NCEA Level 2 Tourism
Course Description

The first year of a two-year vocational course that leads towards higher level study with specialist training providers. Papers may count towards the National Certificate in Tourism (Introductory skills) Level 2: a qualification specially designed for secondary students to gain skills and knowledge required as a base for further training in the tourism industry.
This is a Unit Standard course, so credits count towards NCEA Level 2 but not endorsement.
Tourism is one of the New Zealand’s largest and fastest growing industries. A qualification in the travel arena offers a wide range of career opportunities. As technology and tourism evolve new types of jobs are being introduced all the time. In Travel and Tourism you will explore the different work roles within each sector of the industry and the skills and knowledge needed for these along with the different types of tourists and their needs. You will develop your knowledge of Tourism Destinations and look at the environmental, social and cultural impacts of Tourism; the Business of Tourism and how people participate in tourism.
Studying Travel and Tourism could provide you with the foundation skills to kick start your new career.
