NCEA Level 2 Physics
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr H. Wiramanaden.
This course extends on concepts covered in NCEA Level 1 Physics. The Internal component of the course is aimed at familiarising students with skills and practices required when working in a laboratory and includes analysis of data and an extended practical investigation. The External component provides a sound basis in the fundamental concepts of Physics including mechanics, electricity, light and wave phenomena. This will benefit all students wishing to pursue a career in the Sciences.
Recommended Prior Learning
It is recommended that students have achieved AS92047 (Demonstrate understanding of a physical system using energy concepts ) and at least one of AS92021 (Demonstrate understanding of chemical reactions in context ) or AS91921 (Demonstrate understanding of the use of a range of scientific investigative approaches in a context ) from NCEA Science Level 1.
It is beneficial if students have achieved AS91947 (Demonstrate mathematical reasoning) from NCEA Mathematics Level 1.
